Now that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup is out, we can put our focus back on the Galaxy S27 series that’s coming in a few months. It seems the main cameras are about to change on the Samsung Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus. A leak has claimed Sony sensors on these newcomers. Samsung may skip ISOCELL on these two.
GalaxyClub put a very detailed report online in the Netherlands, and we got a translated breakdown from folks over at Sammobile. The vanilla and Plus models usually end up with 50MP main cameras. Now those sensors don’t always have to come from Samsung.
Samsung has a variety of 50MP ISOCELL units that can do the job, but it’s the first time in many years they’ve decided to go with Sony sensors for the Samsung latest S mobile and S27 Plus. No one knows exactly what changed, or more accurately, what forced Samsung to look past their own ISOCELLs and go with Sony 50MP sensors.
Only the main cameras on the Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus are being changed, as they skip ISOCELL and use Sony 50MP shooters instead. But they haven’t made any changes to the other cameras on the back. The same leak said a 12MP ultrawide sensor is coming back.
Nothing was said about the telephoto, but we suspect it will also remain the same 10MP 3x telephoto zoomer, which is not good news. Chinese flagships have made it a norm to put at least a 50MP telephoto sensor on the back.
Case in point, the Vivo X300, which is also a vanilla model, but it still has a 200MP main camera and two 50MP sensors for ultrawide and telephoto. And this is going to get even better on this year’s X500. Yet Samsung keeps getting away with a measly 10MP telephoto and 12MP ultrawide year after year. We’ll let you know if anything changes.
