Samsung Galaxy S25 series grabs another beta update for One UI 8.5. The software is based on Android 16 (QPR2), and it’s the 5th beta rollout for this new One UI firmware globally. Right now, it’s being tested in one of the Asian markets as the fourth One UI 8.5 beta version.
The update is first and foremost only for Samsung members who are participants in the beta program, so not everyone who owns an S25 can access it. But it’s obviously a sign that the stable update is very close. Of course, the firmware will be dropped on the Galaxy S26 series first.
Tarun Vats came across the beta and leaked it. And you can clearly see that it is marked as One UI 8.5 in the leaked screenshot. This one carries the firmware code ZZAN. It fixes some bugs from the third beta, and now there’s the official new Bixby version in the package.
The size of the beta One UI 8.5 package is ~553MB. You can clearly see it in the screengrab with the changelog. Again, the update is only for those new Samsung Galaxy model owners who signed up as Samsung members. And there’s a regional restriction as well.
Even in the global markets, the beta update has limited reach. But we can quickly get you up to speed on the changes being made from One UI 8 to 8.5. It’s basically a UI overhaul. The update gives users the ability to customize and tailor the quick panel.
Toggles, cards, or widgets can now be moved anywhere we like. The UI search bars in Settings or anywhere else, for that matter, will be at the bottom now, not at the top. That’s far better for one-handed use. Metadata in images is usually sensitive. One UI 8.5 will have better protection for it.
Lock screen AI Brief widget doubles as a flashlight trigger. Samsung Internet Browser is getting a few tweaks. Interesting changes are being made to the Gallery and Phone app. There are plenty of other visual updates throughout their One UI 8.5.
