Samsung Galaxy S25 FE to Get Official AirDrop Support with Stable One UI 9 Update

Google Pixel 10 debuted almost a year ago, and a singular feature on this device had everyone drooling. The phone had AirDrop support for file sharing with iPhones. We knew then that Galaxy devices would grab this feature eventually. Over that period, the Galaxy S26 series got AirDrop, and so did the Galaxy S25. It was only missing on the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE. That ends today.

AirDrop on Galaxy phones works via Quick Share. There’s a toggle in the app Settings that lets you share with iPhones. That toggle was so far missing on the Galaxy S25 FE, but a leaker on X has found this feature inside a new update for SM-S731.

The option will come with the stable One UI 9, from what we can tell. That OS is not currently available for the Samsung new 5G mobile, but it’s being deployed to the rest of the Galaxy S25 siblings, so we have to be patient here. You’ll have One UI 9 (Android 17) on the device soon enough.

By the way, when Google first broke the news on this feature, we had our doubts about its longevity. We feared Apple would update the iPhones and break this feature, but that hasn’t happened yet. Google hasn’t been blocked out of AirDrop, nor has Samsung.

But it’s clear that the list of devices to support AirDrop hasn’t been growing at pace. The official “Quick Share with iPhone” FAQ page hasn’t been updated by Google for a while. And important phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 are still missing from the list of supported devices for some reason.

If the Z series phones don’t have that feature yet, lower-tier A series phones don’t stand a chance. We do wish to see AirDrop Quick Share support on Android as a default feature one day. But this will take a long time, with the looming risk of Apple cutting out Android again from the walled garden. Keep watching the news for more updates.
