Every iteration following the Galaxy Note 5 featured a curved, 3D display, and as per the phone leaker, @UniverseIce the flat display profile will be making a comeback with the upcoming Galaxy Note 20. Five generations later, Samsung has lopped off the curved displays in the still-recent Galaxy S10e and S10 Lite editions.

The curved edge displays debuted with the Note 7 four generations back, and they’ve been part of every subsequent Galaxy Note release. Samsung calls this design trend its ‘Infinity Display,’ but among other changes, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 will flatten out its edges.
With the side bezels not pushed back any longer, the upcoming standard Note 20 variant would have a slightly heavier bezel profile – at least in comparison to the plus or even to its predecessor.
SlashGear speculates that the flat screen on the Note 10 Lite could have inspired Samsung to take a different route with the flagship in question. The fact that the S Pen tends to slip over curved edges could be another explanation. The flat profile should make for an improved, more ergonomic user experience. Speaking of the signature stylus, the rumor mill has suggested that the company might kill this classic Note feature, but it won’t be stripped until a few generations down the line, as per the publication.
More to the point, Samsung isn’t doing away with the ‘Infinity Display’ just yet, as the Note 20+ (or the Note 20 Ultra, going by the publicly available listings) will retain curved displays. It’s also inheriting the punch-hole build, albeit it’s tinier this time around. The same source has previously noted that the Note 20 won’t feature the 100x zoom. Reports suggest that the Note 20 series will go official in August, alongside the cutting-edge Galaxy Fold 2.
