Yet another Realme GT 8 Pro teaser fell on the internet last night, but this one talks about the phone’s battery and charging speeds. That’s new information. The post on Weibo is comparing the newcomer’s thickness and battery size to last year’s Realme GT 7 Pro. Somehow, there’s more cell capacity but a thinner profile.
These are the official details, exposed by Realme itself. The GT 8 Pro will be unveiled on 21 October, tomorrow at 15:00 sharp. This will be a China-only debut for now. This doesn’t leave much room for other details to arrive pre-launch, but at least we can appreciate the phone’s battery specs.
There was a 6500mAh cell on the GT 7 Pro, and 120W fast charging gave backup. By the way, it didn’t have any wireless charging. The upgrade path is decent, as the GT 8 Pro scores a bigger 7000mAh battery and, for the first time, a 50W wireless charging input.
The wired 120W charging is kept the same across generations, not that it’s anything to complain about. Oddly, the battery size has grown by 500mAh, yet the GT 8 Pro’s thickness runs the opposite way. The older version was 8.5mm, a chunker. Meanwhile, the Realme's GT Pro new model shrinks to 8.2mm.
Realme says that if you use the appropriate 120W charger with the GT 8 Pro’s battery, it will gain 50% juice in 15 minutes. We are truly living in the magical age. Realme had already teased the phone’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, and something called an R1 dedicated chip to run its display.
Realme GT 8 Pro is turning out to be a proper flagship phone for the masses, and we are all for it. The SD 8 Elite Gen 5 already puts this newcomer in the top-tier, and we hear that it may have a 200MP periscope OIS zoom camera designed on Samsung HP5 sensor.
They’ll probably mount a 144Hz OLED on this handset and 2K resolution, if the reports are to be believed. Realme may go all-in with the 16GB RAM and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader on its display. The phone will debut tomorrow, so we’ll soon know if these specs are accurate. Keep watching the news for full coverage.
