Next year’s Apple devices won’t be called iPhone 19. They’ve skipped the number and leapfrogged to Apple iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max. Those are the two models potentially launching in 2027. A leak today revealed the screen size and resolution for each device. This is everything you need to know.
There’s a huge redesign coming for the iPhones in 2027. And part of the design change will be a switch to quad-curve OLED screens, the kind we’ve seen on Chinese devices before, made by BOE. Honor phones, and even the Vivo handsets, have had that technology in the past. So we are familiar.
OLEDs that curve on all four sides make it pretty easy to conceal the bezels and make them appear thinner. Apple’s probably using them for the same reason. The fan-made renders in past leaks gave a preview, and the bezels look almost invisible under the curved screen.
And about the new leak that suggests a bigger screen size on the iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max. They are not actually too far off the original size. iPhone 20 Pro is smaller, and its screen might grow from 6.27” to 6.41” at 2686 x 1236px pixels (source: Ice Universe). Is this change coming from the shrinking bezels? Or is the frame getting bigger to accommodate those new curved OLEDs? Hopefully, we’ll have the answers soon.
Anyway, that’s far from the only change being made to iPhone 20 Pros. They want to bump the default memory to 16GB on the new models. Not only that, this could be HBM memory, the kind we usually see in data centers with stacked DRAM modules for extra bandwidth.
Maybe the frames are getting bigger on both iPhones just to increase the batteries. We hear gossip about a larger 6000mAh typical battery size on the iPhone 20 Pro Max (vs. 5567mAh on the 18 Pro Max). And of course, Apple A21 Pro (2nm) silicon is coming to both Pro models next year.
