The Chinese Reno 15 series came out in November last year. This category of Oppo phones usually has a six-month cycle, so naturally, the anticipation is building for the next set of devices from the Reno 16 line. We’ve found a new leak that talks about its key specs.

Digital Chat Station from Weibo is the source that spilled the details you are about to read here. His track record lends him credibility, so there might be some truth to these specs after all. It seems the Reno 16 series in China is built around a Dimensity 8500 SoC.
That part seems logical, because the current Reno 15 and 15 Pro duo have the Dimensity 8450 chip. And moving up to the D8500 SoC means a ~50% bump to AnTuTu scores and a little faster 3.4GHz boost clock speed. Even the GPU is upgraded on the Reno 16 family.

The leaker also reported that the Oppo new Reno mobile will have a 200MP main camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto. Again, that’s something older Reno 15 models already have. You can’t expect many upgrades from the devices that usually last 6 months before getting replaced.
DCS continues. The leak also said there’s a metal build for both potential Chinese Reno 16 siblings. We assume one is vanilla and the other is Pro. He didn’t say the exact names, so it’s just a theory for now. This leak posed these specs in a more generalized way, not for individual devices in the lineup.

The last bit of detail in the leak was the LIPO OLED display for the Reno 16 series. What we know about this tech is that the Low-Injection Pressure Overmolding process could be an attempt to reduce the screen bezels. That basically means a more expensive, but premium OLED.
The leaks have just started to pile up on the Reno 16 series, but we have a solid base here thanks to DCS. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more and more about the Reno 16 lineup in the weeks to come. So keep watching the news for updates.
