iPhone 17 Dummy Units Surface in New Video; iPhone Air Looks Unbelievably Thin

The iPhone leaks keep getting interesting. A video recently popped up on YouTube reviewing what seems to be the new iPhone 17 series. It goes without saying that the devices featured in the video are not actual products since they haven’t been launched yet. These are high-quality mockups, giving you an early peek at the new designs.

After “Unbox Therapy” revealed the iPhone 17 molds last month, sent to the channel by some Chinese case makers, the video we found today on the channel “AppleTrack” seems to give us the best early look at all four devices, including the iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max.

All four of these mockups are white-colored iPhone 17 dummies, and they reconfirm what we’ve been hearing over the internet for the past few months. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max now have stretched camera islands, and the iPhone Plus has been replaced by the iPhone 17 Air. The standard iPhone 17 is stuck with the same design as last year.

The video reveals these devices from all angles possible. As far as the measurements go, nothing was surprising about these newcomers except for the Apple new iPhone model. This particular model has the thinnest design imaginable, with only a 5.64mm profile.

Apple’s new iPhone 17 Air is so thin that it barely manages to fit a USB C port at the bottom. In one of the clips in the video, the reviewer puts the iPhone 17 Air on top of the iPhone 16 Pro. This new device looks to have almost half the thickness of the current model.

iPhone 17 Air will permanently replace the “Plus” variants because they have been pulling the worst sales figures for the last few generations. Of course, with the iPhone 17 Air, Apple is trying a different angle and will solely bank on the phone’s ultra-thin design to generate sales.

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are the same bulky devices, but they now feature an extended camera island or a “Camera Bar,” as the internet calls it. From what we’ve gathered so far, Apple is upgrading the phone’s telephoto sensor to 48MP resolution. The increased sensor size may be the reason why its Flash and LIDAR components have been moved to the other side.

Sadly, the cheaper iPhone 17 doesn’t seem to bring any meaningful design changes. It’s the same vertical camera stack on a pill-shaped island and a 6.3” screen. As always, we advise taking this leak with a hint of skepticism until more sources add credibility to the news. Stay tuned for more updates.
