Apple iPhone 17 Tipped to Sport Bigger 6.3-inch Display Reuniting with Pro Variant

The vanilla iPhone 17 is expected to break tradition with a jump to a 6.3” display, signaling a permanent move away from the small 6.1” size we all know and love. This change has been rumored before, but it’s now gaining serious weight, thanks to Ross Young’s latest report.

The display supply chain analyst and Counterpoint Research founder recently gave a nod to earlier predictions. If what Ross Young says holds up, the iPhone 16 will be the final model to stick with the 6.1” size that Apple introduced back in 2020. The iPhone 17 could move on to a bigger 6.3” screen permanently.

When Apple bumped up the size of the iPhone 16 Pro to 6.3 inches, we knew that the base iPhone 17 would eventually catch up. It seems this year’s lineup will finally bid adieu to the 6.1” display to level the playing field with its Pro sibling once again.

The Apple iPhone's new model will come with more real estate to consume content. However, will Apple finally concede and give this device the 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate fans have been demanding for years? The leaker believes the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will still have the superior ProMotion screen and higher brightness than the vanilla model.

A 6.9” screen size can be expected from the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 Pro might have the same 6.3” display as last year. Since the Plus variant is going to be replaced with the iPhone 17 Air, we have a slight disruption in the usual display sizes. Apart from being thinner, the Air is also smaller than the “16 Plus” with a 6.6” screen.

The fourth model should gain a bigger-than-usual 6.3” screen if the leak pans out. Ross Young is usually on point with display-related predictions, but we’ll still keep an eye out for more sources to corroborate his latest findings and report to our readers as soon as we hear something.

The iPhone 17 lineup will have four devices as usual, but one will be of particular interest. The iPhone 17 Air will be breaking a record with its 5.5mm thin chassis and 146g weight, and we can’t wait to cover this handset in detail once it launches. Stick around and stay up to date with all the latest developments around the iPhone 17 series.
