Xiaomi Redmi 17 4G was put on a retail listing in Europe last week. But there’s another variant of this newcomer that supports 5G carriers. This is not a completely different phone, per se. But it will probably switch out the SoC. We just found a couple of renders for the Xiaomi Redmi 17 5G in three different colors.
There are Blue and Black shades for the Redmi 17 5G. They have a simpler flat rear design and an all-plastic build. The orange one, however, has a faux leather back. The texture will definitely make the orange color more grippy, but it might be prone to wear and permanent stains.
91Mobiles not only gave the renders we’ve sprinkled throughout this article, but they actually had all of its specs in the report, which are pretty similar to the 4G version. The only exception we saw is the chip, obviously. They want to put a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 on the Xiaomi latest Redmi model.
This newcomer will push the clock speeds to 2.45 GHz, and that’s snappy enough for the Android 16 hyper OS 3 system on the Redmi 17 5G. This is a budget phone, though. The easiest place they could cut corners is the display. It would appear that an IPS 720p LCD is used on this handset.
It’s only an HD+ 6.9” IPS display that can push the refresh rate at base 60Hz or all the way to 120Hz. There’s a punch hole on it. That’s where they put an 8MP selfie camera. Then there’s the main unit on the back, which is a 50MP single working lens next to a QVGA sensor.
The phone is pretty chunky. The report said it’s 8.8mm in profile, which is thicker than most phones out there. But it’s well worth it, if you consider what’s inside. Redmi 17 5G is built around one of the best batteries in its class and price bracket.
A 7500mAh cell seems to be a possibility on the Redmi 17 5G, if we go by the leak. 91Mobiles said that the charger won’t be given in the box. But it does carry a 45W wired charging kit for refills. An IP64 rating will make it splashproof and safe from dust. Stereo dual speakers are installed on the Redmi 17 5G.
