There’s a phone in the Xiaomi 18 series that might have dual 200MP cameras. A leaker today came forward with this information, although he didn’t give the exact model. The source has been leaking details about the lineup on and off for a while. A clearer picture is starting to form. This is what we learned from today’s report.
We had to translate a few details, but Digital Chat Station seems to have found an engineering prototype of the phone that’s currently in R&D. It’s a compact version. So you are possibly looking at the Xiaomi 17 Pro’s successor. That’s the phone with a 6.3” AMOLED and rear screen.
The leaker said this could be the only compact phone in the lineup that has a 2nm processor. The odds are high that Xiaomi Latest 5G mobile and Pro Max both have the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or Gen 6 Pro. What stood out in this leak was actually the reported camera specs.
It’s a dual 200MP camera system, like the one on the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. We’ve seen some other Chinese brands use this sort of system as well. One would assume there’s a main 200MP and 200MP telephoto periscope lens in the picture. But let’s hold off until more leaks have verified the hunch.
The battery had already reached 7000mAh on the Xiaomi 17 series. DCS found that the battery might get larger on the Xiaomi 18, but within the same 7k range. And they are working on a new display tech. This will reduce the screen bezels even further.
They are apparently banking on the LIPO tech for thinner and more symmetrical borders around the 6.3” AMOLED screen. Some renders were already leaked. The layout hasn’t changed for the rear cameras. There’s still a 2nd display in the cards for Xiaomi 18 Pro.
The AI button on the side is something new they’ve been experimenting with. Rumor has it that this AI trigger is meant to spice up the rear screen, which has been pretty bland so far in terms of features. This rumor needs further investigation, though. Keep watching the news for updates.
