The company has already confirmed an official Xiaomi 18 Pro debut this month. They teased its design yesterday in a video clip and a banner. Xiaomi didn’t get rid of the rear display. They actually doubled down on it. The Xiaomi 18 Pro made some design tweaks as well, better previewed in leaked real-life images we found online.
Digital Chat Station leaked some spy shots on Weibo exactly when they started teasing the newcomer in China. The camera layout or the rear screen placement hasn’t really changed. But there’s one important difference here worth noticing.
The cameras don’t protrude anymore. They actually sit flush with the rear screen, and it somehow makes the design more pleasing than the Xiaomi 17 Pro. The 18 Pro has a white color and a metal frame, since there are antenna rings jutting out of the sides.
The bezels are extremely thin on the front, and the rear screen also manages to shave a few millimeters off the black borders. It seems they’ve kept the exact dimensions as last time. Apparently, the LEICA triple camera system on the back has a focal range from 17 mm to 75 mm, from ultrawide to telephoto. The main camera is f/1.67 aperture this time. So it lets more light in for more detailed shots. And the telephoto is 75mm 3.2x f/2.4.
Xiaomi 17 Pro had a 5X telephoto sensor, so clearly, getting rid of the protruding lens had a major side effect on the optical zoom. Even so, the company is pretty confident that the Xiaomi 18 Pro is the biggest upgrade ever on their digit series.
