Vivo X70 Series to Launch in Q3 of 2021, Launch Timeline and Expected Chip Specs Leaked

Vivo unveiled their newest line of flagship phones, the X60 series, towards the tail end of 2020. It features three different editions, Vivo X60 Pro, the standard X60, and X60 Pro+, and their sequels are reportedly in the works already. We have the launch timeline for this X70 series. Let’s take a look.

Gizmochina, citing their Twitter-based sources, reports that the Vivo X70 series is lined up for launch in September this year. It’ll make its debut in India first at the Vivo-sponsored IPL cricket tournament (which is slated around the same time.)

The exact date is still tentative. Once it launches in the neighboring country, its next stop should be Pakistan, given Vivo’s typical release calendar. The publication further notes that the X70 will only be an incremental upgrade over the X60 like we've already seen with the new Vivo V21 series. You can expect the new flagships to build on their predecessor’s specifications.

To review, Vivo ships their global and local variants with different silicon. In China, the X60 and Pro feature Exynos 1080; outside China, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 powers this duo. The X60 Pro+ uses the Snapdragon 888 all over the world.

If this trend holds, we could be seeing these chipsets returning in this exact configuration — that is, Qualcomm silicon in the international variants and Samsung-made chips in the home market of China. Vivo might partner with Zeiss optics again to design a gimbal stabilization system for the X70 Pro phones.
