Xiaomi 12 Ultra Unofficial Mockups Show a Redesigned Back and Under-Display Camera

Xiaomi 12 series is debuting later today in China. But that hasn't deterred the rumor mill from churning out last-minute leaks. Based on phone casings, the first product mockups showcase the Xiaomi 12 Ultra from multiple angles.

The TPU case for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra had been making rounds on Twitter before the CAD renders cropped up, courtesy of the European publication LetsGoDigital. The premium phone comes in classic white and black colors.

We're (presumably) looking at a ceramic shell, metal chassis, and a curved display. But the most striking feature of this design is the camera housing. Cameras on Xiaomi flagships seem to get more intricate and complex every year. And Xiaomi 12 Ultra's is the most elaborate yet.

The gigantic ring housing for the lens cluster sits on top of a raised rectangle platform — it juts out a fair bit from the backplate, contributing to the Xiaomi 5G new model's overall thickness. Xiaomi has co-engineered the Xiaomi 12 Ultra cameras with Leica, the famous optics firm. Also, the 'Leica' branding is stamped right next to the camera ring in these images.

You can make out two periscope-style (count them, two!) zoom lenses, a wide-angle camera in the center, and an ultra-wide-angle lens to round off the whole setup. A couple of unspecified sensors and an LED flash flank the camera array.

Another highlight is the invisible front camera. It's far from confirmed, but LetsGoDigital reports that Xiaomi 12 Ultra uses a 20MP front camera hidden beneath the screen.
