Tecno Spark 40 Series to Debut Soon with World’s First Helio G200 Smartphone

Tecno is about to enter the budget smartphone arena with its upcoming Spark 40 series. Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ will be leading the charge this time as the first device in the world with a MediaTek Helio G200 chipset. This new SoC is said to improve the AI and GPU performance of entry-level devices.

The Spark 40 series is suspected to have at least two other models to go with the Pro+ variant. Of course, all models will be positioned in different price brackets. The expensive one seems to carry a Helio G200 engine as verified by Joey Qu (Tecno Senior Product Manager).

This new platform seems to be a part of the Helio family’s natural progression from G95, G96, G99, G100, and now the Helio G200 that has just been unveiled in the market. MediaTek’s philosophy for the chip hasn’t changed, and it comes with the same CPU clock speeds as before.

There are two cores at 2.2 GHz and six cores at 2.0 GHz frequency — nothing we haven’t seen before. On the new Tecno Spark mobile, we have better gaming performance with a slightly raised GPU clock from the usual 1 GHz to 1.1 GHz. AnTuTu synthetic benchmark gives this Helio G200 a score of 470,000, which is around a 10% performance bump over the Helio G100.

Yenchi Lee, MediaTek’s General Manager of Wireless Communications, says, “The MediaTek Helio G200 empowers Tecno to deliver superior performance in the coming SPARK 40 Series, enabling users to experience flagship-level responsiveness, seamless operation, and sustained power that elevates everyday smartphone interactions.”

Tecno’s senior product manager also hinted at another interesting fact about the series. There’s a signature slim design coming with the series, said Joey Qu in his press tour. The Spark 40 series follows in the footsteps of the Tecno Spark 30, which made waves with its budget-friendly appeal and youthful styling. These newcomers will debut globally in July, probably targeting the younger audience.

A major change intended for the series is a set of new AI tools to even the playing field with the CAMON family. The new Helio G200 chip should help bring AI to cheaper devices. We have yet to see the detailed spec sheets of the upcoming phones, which Tecno should reveal in due course. Stick around for more updates and news about the series.
