After an initial deployment in the US earlier, the latest security update for the Galaxy S23 lineup is now reaching a broader audience. Marking the second security update since the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra transitioned to Android 14, this December update is gradually expanding its availability.

The latest December patch, identified by a firmware version ending in BWKC, is currently making its way to various markets, with additional countries expected to join the rollout in the coming days. Galaxy S23 users can check for the update through the Settings » Software update menu.

While the OTA primarily focuses on bolstering the device's security with 75 fixes for known vulnerabilities, it maintains the existing features and functionalities of One UI 6.0. The update includes 54 fixes for core Android OS vulnerabilities, 16 for Samsung One UI, and some specific to Exynos processors.

The Exynos security enhancements are irrelevant to the Samsung 5G new models with SD 8 Gen 2 processors. For Galaxy S23 users in Pakistan, the update is anticipated to follow after its debut in the selected countries. Additionally, there are web-wide speculations that the December update could pave the way toward the much-anticipated One UI 6.1 update.

Samsung has initiated the development of One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S23 lineup, likely to be rolled out shortly after the Galaxy S24 hits the shelves in late January. Stay tuned for the latest updates and enhancements as Samsung continues to refine and optimize the Galaxy S23 series with regular software updates.
