Samsung Galaxy A08 4G has been roaming the UAE and European markets for over a week now. They’ve finally unveiled the handset in an Asian market, and this could be the beginning of a cycle. Pakistan’s just one hop away from Malaysia, where the phone actually debuted today. We’ll probably see the phone in our market before long.
They haven’t changed much hardware-wise. But the phone does have a larger battery and their customary yearly push to a newer OS version. We’ve hit Android 17 One UI 9 on the Galaxy A08 4G, which has some new AI features and a bunch of extra customizations.
The newcomer’s still committed to at least six years of OS updates and security patches. Though the Helio G99 is slowly becoming irrelevant to today’s scene. Yes, last year’s phone had the same chip, and so does the Galaxy A08 4G.
Samsung Galaxy A08 4G does have a bigger battery, so it’s not a complete rehash. They’ve put a 6000mAh battery on this thing. That’s only the second phone from the company to hit this size. The first is the older Galaxy A07 5G that showed up with a 6000mAh cell last year. Do bear in mind that the extra 1000mAh will make charging a bit slower. The supported charger is still capped at 25W. You won’t see any other upgrade on the rest of its spec sheet. The frame and display are pretty much identical to last year’s A07.
The newcomer has PLS LCD. It’s a 6.7” screen at 90Hz, and the resolution is 720p HD+. And they still refuse to quote brightness figures on the official site. It’s probably close to 500 nits HBM, if they are really using A07’s screen again. That would be disappointing.
By the way, the notch is still here, right on top of the screen. They installed an 8MP selfie camera under it. The back setup has nothing but a main 50MP f/1.8 camera with autofocus and no OIS. The build is IP64 with minor water resistance. Galaxy A08 4G (6/128GB) will cost RM 899 (~PKR 61,000) in Malaysia. Pakistani price should be in the ballpark.
