Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro Unveiled; 65W Fast Charging with Bigger Batteries and New Designs

Realme has been prolific with new 'almost flagship' releases the past few weeks. And after the Realme X7 launch in China, Realme introduced the Realme 7 series today — featuring the Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro. It borrows some of its design from the new Oppo F17 Pro but isn’t the raw performance beast you’d expect from a Realme sub-flagship. Let’s talk about the duo.

Realme 7 Pro

The Realme 7 Pro comes months after its predecessor but it has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G powering it. Realme probably made the tradeoff to include other upgrades and new features. It has upped the proprietary SuperDART charge to a whopping 65W — advertised to charge the phone’s 4,500 mAh battery in under 35 minutes!

The display of the 7 Pro by Realme has shrunken from 6.6” to 6.4” and is now SuperAMOLED instead of LCD. It’s not all upgrades though, Realme had to cut corners to introduce an AMOLED panel. Instead of the 90Hz refresh rate, the new screen only produces 60Hz. The fingerprint reader now rests under the display and the pill-style cutout has morphed into a simple hole punch in a corner. The extra wide-angle lens is gone, but the front camera is now 32MP — double the 16MP on the Realme 6 Pro.

Admittedly, Realme’s cameras are never the headline but aside from the last-gen processor and the additional ultra-wide selfie camera, the manufacturer has also lopped off the 12MP telephoto camera. A generic 2MP depth lens takes its place. The other three cameras on Realme 7 Pro —  the 64MP standard sensor, the ultra-wide shooter, and the macro cam — have been carried over.

The 3.5mm headphone jack is still there as is the storage expandability feature. Realme has also managed to secure TUV Rheinland's splash resistance IP rating for the device.

The Realme 7 Pro comes in Mirror Blue and Mirror Silver colorways and 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB flavors, starting from $270 (Rs. 45,000).

Realme 7

In the same vein as its ‘Pro’ brother, the Realme 7 doesn’t feature any radical upgrades — save for its new MediaTek Helio G95 processor. The display is identical to its predecessor (an FHD+ 90Hz LCD panel) as is the camera setup at 64MP for the primary camera, rounded off by an 8MP + 2MP + 2MP array.

700 mAh has been added to the 4,300 mAh battery to the Realme 7 which comes to a 5,000 mAh capacity but still supports 30W Dart Charging. The mirror cosmetics are new too but it’s more of a new paint job than a redesign — that comes in Mist Blue and Mist White.

We don't have the exact Launch dates for Pakistan yet but the series has already been launched with the neighbors and might arrive anytime soon to the local market. Realme is asking $230 or about PKR 38,000 for the base version but will consumers shell out an extra Rs. 5,000 for a slightly better chipset? The brand is betting they will.
