Oppo Reno 7, Reno 7 Pro, and Reno 7 SE Unveiled Featuring New Designs and Chipsets

After much ado, Oppo finally unveiled the Reno 7 series in China. It’s the second generation of Reno phones this year, featuring the Reno 7, Reno 7 Pro, and Reno 7 SE. 5G is offered across the board, the design is more premium than ever, and the new ColorOS powers the phones.

The Reno 7 SE is the most affordable of the three Reno 7 phones. But its design changes are minimal. The chassis curves along the edges, the rear cameras live on a raised rectangle, and a hefty chin flanks the display. All three Reno 7 phones are available in identical iridescent blue, navy blue, and gold finishes.

Oppo Reno 7 SE 5G rocks a 6.43” AMOLED screen, 90Hz refresh rate, 1080P resolution, and only 600 nits of peak brightness. The display has a hole-punch cutout for the 16MP front camera.

Plus, the fingerprint scanner is hidden under the panel. Turn the phone over to find its triple-camera array of 48MP wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP portrait lenses.

Everything runs on a 4500 mAh battery, MediaTek Dimensity 900, and 33W SuperVOOC charging. You get 8GB of memory and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. The storage standard is UFS 2.2. Oppo Reno 7 SE 5G starts from CNY 2,199 (~ Rs. 60,000.)

The baseline Reno 7 is where the new design shines. We’re looking at a trendy flat-edge frame and trimmed bezels. Also, the camera island has a pleasing accent.

But the screen is carried over wholesale from the Reno 7 SE and protected with Gorilla Glass 5. Embedded in the display is a 32MP front camera. The primary camera system features 64MP f/1.7 wide, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro sensors.

The chip at the heart of the newly launched Oppo Reno 7 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G. It’s hooked up to a 4500 mAh battery and powered over 60W charging.

The RAM comes in 8GB and 12GB options. And the storage in 128GB and 256GB editions. ColorOS 12, built on the latest Android 12, runs on this hardware. Reno 7 5G is priced at CNY 2,699 (~ Rs. 74,100.)

Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G

Last but definitely not least, we have the Reno 7 Pro 5G. The Reno 7 series doesn’t include a ‘Pro+’, making the Reno 7 Pro the top-end edition for this season. And it has the specs to back up that title.

The slim and uniform bezel around the Reno 7 Pro display is a cut above the rest. It can hit 920 nits of peak brightness, supports HDR10+ content, and measures 6.55” across. Other screen specs match up with the Reno 7. The casing is slim and lightweight.

MediaTek Dimensity 1200 Max is the engine inside the Reno 7 Pro. The SoC works with a 4500 mAh battery and 65W SuperVOOC charging. Stereo speakers are available. So is NFC support and blazing fast UFS 3.1 storage. The Reno 7 Pro comes in 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB variants. The baseline option costs CNY 3,699 (~ Rs. 101,500.)
