Leaked iPhone 14 Pro Schematics Showcase the Dual Screen Cutouts & Bigger Camera Hump

The next generation of the iPhone will feature Apple's most polarizing and divisive design. Rumors have been floating around the web even before the iPhone 13 Pro came out. But multiple industry analysts and insiders leaked images showcasing the new ‘pill + hole punch’ layout on the screen. These leaks were corroborated by seemingly official schematics — all but confirming the new ‘i-cutout.’

The schematic drawings were first spotted on a Chinese social media website that layout the design and the dimensions of the iPhone 14 Pro. For the third year in a row, Apple is sticking to the sharp, flat-edge chassis.

But at 7.85mm, the frame has grown thicker, and the camera hump stretches even further out. Including the plate, the iPhone 14 Pro measures 12.02mm in thickness (which comes out to a surprising 4.17mm bump.)

However, the most striking change is the new ‘i-cutout.’ The pill and O-hole combo on the upcoming addition to the iPhone price list houses the FaceID apparatus and front camera. It takes up almost the same amount of screen real-estate as the wide notch. So the redesign hardly serves a practical purpose.

Note that the new design is only meant for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Mini will stick to the familiar notch for at least another year. Speaking of recycling, the two baseline iPhone 14 models will also reuse last year’s A15 Bionic chip (making it the most incremental upgrade from Apple in years.)
