Apple iPhone 14 Pro Bags Multiple GLOMO Awards; Crowned For Best Smartphone and Disruptive Mobile Innovation

GLOMO awards celebrate the latest trends and developments in the mobile industry. GSMA recurringly hosts them at Mobile World Congress, and the awards honor cutting-edge innovation in various categories; 5G, IoT, AI, mobile apps, and devices. Apple Inc. bagged two of them at MWC 2023. 


GSMA nominees for GLOMO "Best Smartphone" were Google Pixel 7 Pro, Nothing Phone 1, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4, and iPhone 14 Pro. Apple's beastly handheld won the award by a country mile. It doesn't end there; the Apple iPhone 14 Pro landed another accolade for the category "Disruptive Mobile Innovation."

Apple's "Emergency SOS via Satellite" is a ground-breaking innovation deserving of an award. The technology lets users connect to satellites from the ground to make contact in an emergency with zero cellular activity. This feature allows outgoing for short emergency texts, even when the phone is in isolated locations.


GLOMO also recognized Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip and Sony's IMX 989 sensor as "Disruptive Mobile Innovation" award nominees. However, the new iPhone model emerged victorious with "Emergency SOS." 


GSMA justified its decision by saying that the best Smartphone award combines outstanding performance, innovation, and leadership as determined through an assessment of smartphones on the market from January 2022 to December 2022 by world-leading independent analysts, journalists, and journalists influencers.

iPhone 14 Pro features an XDR LTPO OLED panel supporting ProMotion 120Hz and Apple's first-ever Always-on-Display. Its brightness peaks at a whopping 2000nits. The dynamic island on its forehead, combined with ultra-smooth UI, delivers ultimate ease of use. The newcomer also has an upgraded 48MP primary snapper to shutter raw pictures without pixel binning. For performance, it combines iOS 16 with Apple A16 Bionic silicon.
