iPhone 18 Pro Leaked Screen Guard Reveals a More Compact Dynamic Island

Rumors of a smaller Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro might be true after all. Yes, there were some conflicting reports at the beginning, but the leak today paints a clearer picture. A Weibo post in China exposed the screen protector designed for the iPhone 18 Pro, and here’s how the camera cutout looks in those images.

It’s not exactly a single Android-like punch hole cutout that was rumored early on. That would’ve been a radical change, not exactly what Apple’s known for. There’s still a dual cutout here, but it’s much smaller. One of the shots gave a side-by-side preview of the older and a potential new layout.

By the way, the older iPhone 17 Pro had a 20.76mm wide pill cutout. They plan to shrink it down to just 13.49mm on the latest iPhone model. So you’ll definitely feel the difference. And the newcomer is not really losing its identity or any of its Dynamic Island UI features.

We still have some doubts about the origin of this leak and suspicions of the images being AI. There are tiny inconsistencies all over these photos. But if Apple were to change the camera island, this is probably how they’ll do it. The theory still holds. Still, let’s wait for more sources to confirm if that’s the case.

We noted something else on that iPhone 18 Pro render, but it may not be as significant. The screen bezels are the same size as last time. Ice Universe reported the same idea in one of his earlier posts. So this theory must have some validity.

The same leaker also has a theory that a smaller Dynamic Island could inevitably come to the iPhone Air 2 and the basic iPhone 18. Those models will probably debut in early 2027. The hearsay suggests Apple wants to hide the Face ID’s flood illuminator under the screen. That’s how they shrink the Dynamic Island. We’ll know more about it as more leaks appear. Keep watching the news for updates.
