A leak has been circulating about some big upgrade coming to iPhone 18 Pro’s main camera. Fixed Focus Digital is at it again, and they seem to have found some new info about the next Pro iPhone that he wrote about in his Weibo post. This is everything FFD exposed today.

The rumors aren’t new. We’ve heard plenty of times that the main camera on the Apple iPhone 18 Pro is physically larger, but now we know the true extent of it. Apparently, accommodating that huge main sensor has led to the camera bump being 2mm thicker this time.
The leaker said 2nm in a way that doesn’t really clarify if it’s the body thickness or the camera bumps. A commenter asked for a bit more clarity, to which the Fixed Focus Digital replies, “General.” This could be the phone’s overall thickness, but let’s not be hasty and conclude everything over one leak. Browse through the new iPhone rate list and find the best options available today.

Now, why exactly would a minuscule thing like the main camera bump the phone’s thickness so much? You must have heard at one point that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max might potentially use variable aperture sensors for the main shooter.

This is the only logical explanation. The sensor has moving components other than the OIS actuators. That kind of hardware definitely needs more space. Hence, the leaker’s claim about the thickness. But a 2nm jump is still a lot. We’ll look into that and report back to you.

Anyway, the leaker also said that the aluminum backplate will return, so Apple has no intention of going back to Titanium anytime soon. We know that Apple intends to unveil only the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max this year, and just so the launch doesn’t feel bleak, they’ll throw in the new iPhone Ultra.
The iPhone Air 2, which we covered in a recent news, alongside the iPhone 18e and the basic iPhone, have actually been moved down to next year Q1 2027. All these changes in the schedule are being made to accommodate the first Apple foldable handset. Keep watching the news for more updates.
