Itel has made a semi-rugged phone. At least that’s the impression the Itel Power 80 gives from its design. The newcomer was released in Pakistan today at a budget price. It’s named that way because of its huge 7000mAh battery. But they also throw in every durability feature possible on a handset to make the Power 80 feel like a rugged device.
Why semi-rugged? Well, it’s not a traditionally thick slab like most rugged phones are these days. Itel Power 80 has TPU-cushioned corners that protect it from fall damage. And bezels over bezels act like a built-in TPU case for the device to shield the screen in the middle.
The Itel new Power model is safe from water and dust with all official IP ratings up to IP69. 2m deep water ingress safety is guaranteed. It will survive water jets of 80-100 bar at 85°C. It goes without saying that the camera will work underwater with a volume key assigned to the shutter.
Sonic ejection will clear water and dust from crevices to bring the speakers and mic back to normal volume. By the way, they’ve put a 7000mAh battery on the handset that has over 67 days of standby time guarantee. And the video playtime is supposed to be 22.6 hours per charge.
Like a true rugged phone, the battery’s actual operating ranges are -40°C Freezing Cold to 70°C Heat, and there’s a self-healing tech on the cell. Apparently, every 200 cycles consumed would reduce battery degradation by 24%. So the lifespan is extended quite a bit.
Specs-wise, it’s a cheap 4G handset with a Unisoc T7250. They’ve put Android 16 as the default OS in the Power 80. It’s definitely good enough for a 120Hz HD+ display. This newcomer has a 6.78” IPS LCD with a small punch hole where an 8MP selfie camera is installed.
The variant that came to Pakistan will cap the RAM to 4GB, but it does have 128GB of storage. Three cameras are just for show: only one 50MP camera works on the back. Its charging will be quite slow over an 18W input. There’s only one speaker and a side fingerprint reader. Infrared remote and UltraLink free radio calls are its specialties. Itel Power 80 (4/128GB) only costs Rs 39,999 in Pakistan.
