iPhone 17 Pro Max came with a decent battery upgrade. It’s already at 4,823 mAh capacity for the nano SIM version and 5,088 mAh for the eSIM-only trim. This year’s capacity boost will be minor for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. We’ve found the details in a leak today.
Digital Chat Station posted the battery specs on Weibo just moments ago. And it seems the leaker has sourced the battery info for the Chinese iPhone 18 Pro Max version. It’s an estimated cell size, not the exact number. Though it’s still a helpful hint.
DCS predicts that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will have a 5,000 mAh battery or bigger inside the chassis. We assume this Chinese version will bring a physical SIM slot, so it has to trade off some capacity. Of course, the numbers are supposed to change on the international and eSIM versions.
The international iPhone 18 Pro Max might see batteries from 5,100 mAh to 5,200 mAh. Now, these numbers may seem small on paper. But these kinds of increments usually result in hours worth of extra screen time. How long exactly will the 18 Pro Max last? We presume that will be answered later. By the way, latest iPhone prices are varied across the new lineup, reflecting a high-end, premium market position.
By the way, the battery isn’t the only thing responsible for the added screen time for the iPhones. It seems Apple is working on a 2nm silicon. The leaker pointed that out on his Weibo post. He believes that the 18 Pro and Pro Max will share the 2nm Apple A20 Pro silicon for extra efficiency.
DCS has been keeping tabs on all the iPhone 18 devices. One of his earlier reports shared screen sizes for the newcomers. The basic iPhone 18 is built around a 6.27” XDR OLED. The phone will keep the 120Hz LTPO refresh rate and the Dynamic Island.
Then comes the iPhone 18 Pro. This one has the same 6.27” OLED size, by the way. But they might hide the Face ID under the screen. So there’s probably a new Dynamic Island system for it. The iPhone 18 Pro Max will obviously have a bigger screen than the others: a 6.86” LTPO OLED panel. We haven’t heard the last of the iPhone 18 series yet. Keep watching the news for updates.
