The rest of the industry moved past the 5000mAh standard years ago, but the iPhones are just catching up this year. Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max is being reported to have the biggest cell capacity in the family so far. A new leak gave us the exact numbers. This is everything you need to know.
There are some regions where iPhones come as eSIM-only variants. Of course, every iPhone that doesn’t have a physical SIM slot has had free space, which Apple uses to its advantage. They put a bigger battery on eSIM-exclusive models. That might also be true for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The post on X that has since been taken down exposed a 5,425 mAh cell capacity. That’s the eSIM version, by the way. Then comes the iPhone new model with the physical slot, and its battery shrinks to 5,235 mAh. There’s not a huge difference here.
This will, however, qualify as a huge upgrade from the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The current handset with a physical SIM slot only had a 4,823 mAh cell. And the one with eSIM sized the battery up to 5,088 mAh. You can bet that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will last several hours longer than its predecessor.
We are looking at a difference of as low as 337 mAh and as high as 412 mAh on the eSIM iPhone 18 Pro Max. The pressure is on for Samsung. Now they have to push their Galaxy S27 Ultra past the 5000mAh standard just to keep up with Apple.
The big battery didn’t really affect the thickness. You may have heard that the iPhone 18 Pro Max is a little thicker than last time. Those reports are actually about the camera bar being raised to fit larger sensors on the handset. At its thinnest point, the phone is actually 0.05mm thinner.
There was a drop test leak where we saw the real-life footage of the iPhone 18 Pro, and the device looked exactly like the current model. The design mystery has also been solved.
