Apple iPhone 18 Pro Leak Suggests a Thicker Aluminum Alloy Build

The rumor mill keeps going back and forth on the idea that the Apple iPhone 18 Pro might get thicker. The leaks so far have been a roller coaster ride. There was a dummy unit leak in April that predicted a fatter aluminum alloy frame on the Pro, and then another tipster insisted they’ll keep the existing 8.75mm chassis. But today, a viral post on Weibo has contradicted that last development.

They won’t keep the 8.75mm thickness that was seen on the iPhone 17 Pros. Fixed Focus Digital seems pretty sure that the 18 Pro is way bulkier than the parent handsets. It’s almost 2mm thicker, in fact. And this isn’t even the first time the leaker has made that claim.

He uttered the exact words in June too, but now he says that his claim has been proven right. The design and deco details were seen on the leaked Apple files this time, said the leaker. But is it even possible that Apple will make such a radical change?

The leaker has essentially doubled down on what he said before and seems even more sure that the iPhone 18 Pro is thicker by 2mm. Now this could be the camera deco or the overall frame. If they did make the phone thicker, we’d wager it’s the whole body. By the way, get the latest iPhone price list in one place with fast and accurate updates.

There’s more than enough proof out there that the newcomer’s main camera has variable aperture. And then there is hearsay about a bigger cell on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, so in one way or another, the phone will get a tad thicker, if not a full 2mm, as the leaker suggests.

WhatMobile did a coverage on a leak with the exact battery figures for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Those who didn’t read it before should know that the eSIM version is built around a 5,425 mAh cell. And the physical SIM model got the 5,235 mAh upgrade. We’ll be on the hunt for more leaks of this nature. Keep watching the news for more updates.
