Galaxy S26 Series Leak Spells the Bad News; Thicker, Dual-Layer Camera Bumps

Samsung wants to redesign the Galaxy S26 series. We had seen the new appearance in renders and dummy images so far, with disappointingly thick camera bumps. Ice Universe’s latest post on X substantiates those leaks, exposing the camera protective shields on all three devices.

Part of the redesign for the S26 series is a dual-ridge camera bump. The Galaxy S26 Edge will have two lenses sitting on a massive horizontal bar, as previewed by Ice Universe in this photo. You can see the camera rings on the left that supposedly crop into the camera plate on the right.

If this design reminds you of the iPhone 17 Pro’s huge camera bar at the top, you are not alone. It’s likely changed to optimize the hardware assembly inside the S26 Edge, which could make it slimmer and allow a bigger battery to sit in a congested space.

Samsung wants to thin the shell on the other two devices as well, but without compromising the camera quality. The only way to do that is to raise the bump. The alleged Samsung flagship new model will have three lenses, instead of two, and they will sit on an elongated capsule-style island.

The S26 Pro only has three cameras on the back, so it keeps the visual continuity and minimalism of its precursors. The S26 Ultra is something else. At the bottom of the image, you will see a bigger camera capsule that Samsung might slap onto the Ultra’s rear upper left corner.

The viral image paints half the picture at best. The main camera, ultrawide, and periscope telephoto will be nesting in the two-layer camera bump. But the second telephoto, time-of-flight sensor, and LED flash will sit flat on the frame outside the capsule island.

Samsung is not yet ready to give up on the flat boxy design for its flagships. The Ultra rounds out the corners for a more ergonomic feel, but it doesn’t look much different from the older version. The Edge has the same size and thickness advantage, and the Pro might replace the vanilla 25 and S25 Plus in the series. The leak spree has just begun, and there’s a lot more to discover. Keep watching the news, so you don’t miss any updates.
