Apple's Awe-Dropping Event Kicks Off Today at 10PM Pakistani Time; Here's What to Expect

Apple's "Awe-Dropping" event is happening today, on September 9th. That’s where we’ll meet the new iPhone 17 series. Fans have waited for this occasion all year. The whole show will be live-streamed from Apple Park, California, at 10 AM Pacific Time (10 PM in Pakistan). A YouTube Live session is already scheduled for the event, and here's the link.

It goes without saying that we’ll be greeting more than one product lineup at today’s event. As you’d expect, the launch will mainly cover the iPhone 17 series. But there’s also a new Apple Watch collection and AirPods 3 Pro, hitting the stage alongside the new smartphones.

Apple iPhone 17 Series

Apple made a few changes to the series this year. We have a brand-new model in the family that goes by “iPhone 17 Air.” It’s supposed to be an ultra-thin 5.5mm to 5.6mm handset that could set a world record. It compromises on the battery for its light design. The iPhone “Air” might be a stand-in for the older “Plus” models.

Keep an eye on the design changes as well. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have huge camera islands to accommodate larger sensors. This does provide a sense of uniqueness to their identity, but at what cost? We can’t wait to hear how Apple explains this sudden design shift.

At the bottom of the totem pole is the basic iPhone 17, which we hear is the first with a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s right, Apple has finally done it. The company is rumored to use a non-ProMotion 120Hz XDR OLED on the base device at a 6.3” size.

There have been rumors that the Pro iPhones will use 3nm Apple A19 Pro silicon this year. The base iPhone will take the shaft with a basic A19 chip. The iPhone 17 Air’s chip is still a mystery, but on all four, the operating system will be iOS 26, designed on a Liquid Glass theme.

A RAM upgrade is a possibility, at least on the Pro variants. They’ll both score 12GB memory paired with multiple storage options. The basic iPhone 17 will stick to the roots and keep the 8GB RAM going. We’ll know what other changes await the iPhone 17 lineup at tomorrow’s event.

AirPods 3 Pro and Apple Watch Series

The keynote is presumed to host a new pair of AirPods. Apple swapped out the case’s Lightning port with a USB-C on its AirPods Pro 2 (2023). Last year, they debuted the basic AirPods 3. Predicting from the pattern, the rumor mill believes AirPods 3 Pro might be next on the roster.

Apple may have given these buds the new H3 chip. Each side seems to have temperature and heart sensors that pair with your Apple Watch to track your workouts. There’s probably a Live Translation feature on the AirPods 3 Pro, but there’s no guarantee for it yet.

Watch Ultra 3 will break cover at the event, possibly with a new entry-level Watch SE 3. On the former, the screen size is getting bigger, not by increasing the dial size, but by reducing the bezel thickness. We hear it’s a brighter, more efficient AOD screen, and its features may be borrowed from last year’s Watch 10 collection.

Watch SE 3 will have the same hardware as the Ultra, so assume an equal level of performance. Apple finally puts an end to the disparity. We don’t expect huge upgrades on the basic Watch 11 series, if the rumors are anything to go by.

Blood pressure detection is new to the Watch 11 Series, but the rest of the hardware echoes the older version. And one more thing before we wrap it up, all these Apple Watches are bringing the company’s self-made Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip.

It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Apple might debut new AirTags among other products. Let’s see if this rumor comes to pass at today’s event. Stick around for an in-depth iPhone 17 series coverage on WhatMobile News after the official keynote.
