Samsung may be giving up on the Slim phones, but Apple’s not. It’s still going after the second-generation iPhone Air 2 (the name is only a placeholder). A new leak has been found on Weibo that shows an iPhone Air 2 mockup with a dual-lens setup. Here’s a preview.

This image went viral after Digital Chat Station posted it on his Weibo profile. The leaker addressed the phone as iPhone 18 Air, but that’s just a tentative name. It’s too soon to put a label on the 2nd-gen Slim iPhone. Anyway, the most interesting part about this leak is that the phone is shown with two rear cameras.
The leaker says both lenses are 48MP (Main + Ultrawide). That’s fair enough, and the pattern fits the usual Apple design philosophy. But we remain skeptical of the image. This may not be an accurate depiction of what the phone looks like in reality.

This mockup doesn’t account for all the hardware that lives within the horizontal camera island. That’s one of the reasons Apple was able to get a 5.65mm frame on the first iPhone Air. That said, we still think a dual camera is a possibility next year for the new Apple iPhone Air model.
They may even keep the horizontal camera bar, but let’s wait for more sources to confirm the design first. The leak says they are bringing back the 6.5” screen with 120Hz refresh rate and that same 3D FaceID at the top. So, nothing’s really changing on the display front.
There are obviously Apple A20 and A20 Pro chips in development that will be installed on the iPhone 18 series. One of them may even trickle down to iPhone Air (2nd-gen). Although if they stick to the pattern, the A20 Pro is the logical choice for the iPhone Air 2.
It’s too early to assume whether the phone will even come out. The company may scrap the project midway. After all, the first iPhone Air couldn’t generate much interest in the thin phone category. So we advise setting your expectations accordingly. We’ll get back to you as soon as we have more details. Keep watching the news.
