Apple iPhone Air 2 Rumored to Address Two Major Flaws of the Original iPhone Air

The original iPhone Air wasn’t a big seller. But, instead of quitting, Apple wants to fix the issues people had with the first one. The iPhone Air 2 will bring improvements in two key areas where the Air 1 fell short. Those are camera and battery specs. Here’s what a new report tells us.

iPhone Air’s biggest weakness is the single camera. And the way Apple priced this device at $1000, the compromise didn’t really feel worth it for most people. Hence the bad sales. The Air 2 plans to add a second camera to the back, but it’s not exactly clear if the lens is telephoto or ultrawide.

It raises another question: how exactly will Apple squeeze in a second lens on the Air 2? The original iPhone Air is all battery. And everything else lives in the small camera bar on the top. You are well aware that this device is all about design and thinness. A second camera could compromise that.

And let’s be honest here, the battery doesn’t last longer on the Air, at least not at the same level as the basic iPhone 17 or 17 Pro. The juice wasn’t really worth the squeeze for most people, so they simply looked the other way. And Apple is aware of this situation. Here is the current official Apple iPhone price list for all the latest models available directly from our website.

There’s a new type of efficient OLED display planned for the iPhone Air 2, which is also thinner. The report says that Apple may be tinkering with CoE (Color on Encapsulation) for the Air 2. We don’t want to get too technical, so here’s a simple version to break down what CoE means.

CoE displays usually merge the touch layer with the OLED layer. This makes the panel thinner. They’ve wanted to install this CoE OLED on the iPhone Fold, but the report tells us iPhone Air 2 might be getting the same treatment. These are also more efficient displays, so they’ll have two advantages.

Thin OLED means more room for a battery upgrade. And the phone will use even less energy if that CoE tech comes to pass. At this point, if Apple did want to shave a few millimeters off the iPhone Air 2, that’s also possible with the tech they have at hand. Keep watching the news for updates.
