Early leaks predicted that it was the end of the iPhone Air line after the poor sales of the first model. But this is not the case, apparently. Sources agree that iPhone Air 2 is coming, but it may be late. Digital Chat Station has leaked some new information on Weibo today. This is everything we learned.
Mark Gurman’s report is still fresh at Bloomberg, where he seems to discuss the Apple iPhone Air 2 at length. It would appear that the second model in line has the codename V62. And this particular handset is supposed to come out in the spring of 2027.
What DCS reported today fits along those lines. The iPhone Air 2 could potentially reveal itself in Q1 2027. He suggested in his post that Apple has some serious upgrades planned for this newcomer, so the delay we are seeing might actually be worth it.
iPhone Air 2 is in the testing phase, and they are potentially giving this handset a dual 48MP camera setup. Now this is good news, since most of the complaints we hear from iPhone Air 1 users are about the sole 48MP rear camera with no variety at all. They are also willing to put a 2nm Apple A20 silicon on the iPhone Air 2. People have had a lot of issues with the battery size on the first iPhone Air, so the next model will fix that. The capacity might grow next year, or they could come up with more clever ways to save battery.
All those upgrades and still there’s a chance that the Air 2 will actually become thinner than last year. But the handset can’t bridge the gap between itself and the Pros. iPhone Air 2 is actually in the same league as the non-Pro devices like the iPhone 18e and iPhone 18.
In fact, it’s entirely possible that all three newcomers may debut together in Q1 2027, several months after the iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Ultra launch, since this has been reported more than once by the rumor mill.
