iPhone Air was the thinnest, but it had a few complaints last year. This was a ~$ 1,000 iPhone with just a single rear camera. And the battery was terrible if someone really wanted to drive this thing daily. Apple iPhone Air 2 would probably address both of them. There’s a report that predicts a larger cell and two cameras on it.
The dual cameras may not have the telephoto. But we assume the Air 2 will throw in at least a 48MP main and 48MP Ultrawide camera on the back. Our hunch was validated today. Digital Chat Station gave some info about the iPhone Air 2 in his new Weibo post.
Apparently, the Air 2 is built around a 6.55” OLED. This screen will have close to 1.5K resolution, which Apple usually dubs Retina resolution. And of course, there will be a ProMotion variable refresh rate. This newcomer would end up with 1- 120Hz LTPO tech.
That’s a flat medium screen in the exact aspect ratio as the original iPhone Air. Not sure how the design would change to put two cameras on the back to have enough space for the battery and motherboard. They could make it look like the basic iPhone 18, but that’s just a guess. The leaker left us guessing about the battery size, but he did say it will be a bigger cell. Now, other reports on the internet advise a 3500mAh cell on the Air 2. But this hasn’t been substantiated. So don’t take this claim at face value alone.
One thing that’s pretty much guaranteed on the Air 2 is the new chip. It could be one of the Apple A20 series chips. Not sure if it unlocks the base or the Pro version. But both tiers are 2 nm silicon. And they are the best performers ever made for iPhones by Apple. Keep watching the news for more updates.
