There’s now a Poco M8 Power in the series that already includes three other variants. The “Power” in this case means the huge 8000mAh battery on the newcomer. The M8 Power is rated for 28 hours of video playback. It has a smaller AMOLED, but it’s clearly a Redmi Note 17 remake.
The camera stack and lens configuration gave it away. Behind that Poco label and a redesigned frame, it’s very clearly a Note 17. It has an 8000mAh battery that will recharge over a 45W input. And the phone acts as a mini power bank with 22.5W reverse charge output.
They say Xiaomi latest Poco mobile battery can do 14 hours of gaming, though it does vary from game to game. They didn’t use the full 7” OLED here. This newcomer is actually built around a smaller 6.9” AMOLED that has a thick chin and caps the resolution to 1080p FHD+.
It does have a 120Hz refresh rate and the very same Gorilla Glass 7i seen on the Redmi Note 17. The fingerprint reader is obvious under the AMOLED. It’s optical. Again, all the hardware is familiar. We know that the M8 Power got the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chip.
2.3GHz boost clock speed is good enough. Not sure if the gaming would hold up on its Adreno 613 iGPU. Up to 8GB of RAM can be bought on the M8 Power, but the storage is cut off at 128GB. There are no higher-tier options, it seems. That sort of thing can change with region.
Android 16 Hyper OS 3.1 is the default system here, but the M8 Power has been promised 4 years of OS updates and an extra two years of security on top of that. The camera is serviceable but not their best. Only a 50MP main unit is seen on the back of the Poco M8 Power.
8MP selfie shooter sits in a punch hole on the screen. By the way, this newcomer has an IP65 rating only. That 8000mAh battery made the phone 8.45mm thick. Between the LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, the Poco M8 Power only got a 6/128GB base trim, which costs ~$263 (~PKR 73,000).
