The rumors about a 200MP camera on Vivo Y500 Pro were true after all. The company just unveiled this device in China, and they positioned it as a midrange model. The chipset, battery, and camera are the Vivo Y500 Pro’s biggest upgrades over the predecessor. Here are all the details.

There’s a newer Dimensity 7400 SoC inside the Y500 Pro. It boosts the CPU clock speeds by 100 MHz. They even introduced a 12GB variant with this handset. But this upgrade isn’t as straightforward as it seems. Apparently, they knocked down the storage speeds from UFS 3.1 to UFS 2.2.
Y400 Pro used a 50MP Main unit, but the new Y500 Pro model bumps it up to 200MP. And yes, it’s the rumored Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor bound with OIS and AutoFocus. The other rear cameras are only for show. They just wanted to match the phone’s appearance with the X300 series.

The selfie camera is still the same old 32MP unit. The screen is slightly upgraded. It’s a 6.67” 120Hz AMOLED with a flat profile. 1600nits is the HBM brightness, and the screen is capped at 1.5K resolution this time. Its Diamond Shield Glass is scratch-resistant. We also have an anti-reflective coating here on the latest Vivo Y model.

The battery is a large 7000mAh pack on the Y500 Pro that plugs into a 90W fast wired input. That’s a 22% upgrade in capacity. But the phone is a bit heavier and thicker than before: 7.8mm/198g vs. 7.5mm/182g on Y400 Pro. The newcomer does make up for it with better durability.

They secured an IP68/IP69 rating for the Y500 Pro this time, which makes this phone completely waterproof at a depth of 1.5 meters for 5 hours straight (advertised). The phone is also drop safe with the Industry-first national standard reliability certification.
You have the usual hardware for the rest of its categories. The chip allows up to WiFi 6 connections. There’s an optical fingerprint on the screen. Only a single speaker plays audio from the bottom. No SD card slot. An infrared port and an NFC chip are provided with the Vivo Y500 Pro. The phone’s price starts at CNY 1,799 (~PKR 71,000) for the 8/128GB trim. Usually, Vivo phones are cheaper in the home market. The Y500 Pro will cost more globally.
