The first device from the Spark 50 series has been unveiled. The newcomer is called Tecno Spark 50 5G, and it’s a complete design overhaul with a bigger 6500mAh battery and faster 45W charging support. This is everything you need to know.

This handset was actually launched in India first. But the region is part of a wider release plan. We’ll probably see this one in more countries soon enough. Anyway, Spark 50 5G’s looks almost like a one-to-one replica of a Realme 16. The only thing missing is a rear selfie mirror.

Tecno's latest Spark model is built around an IPS LCD of 6.78” size. The bezels are quite thick. But they at least look uniform in these renders. It’s a 120Hz panel for fluid motion. The touch rate is 240Hz, which is not too shabby. The only gripe we have with the Spark 50 5G is the 720p resolution.

By the way, the camera bar where they put a 50MP main unit and an LED flash is made of 6-series Aluminum Alloy. The uniglass metal cover for lenses is great for protection. And the phone itself has an IP64 Pro rating and a Shockproof Military Equipment test rating. It won’t break easily.

The selfie shooter in the punch hole is 8MP. Spark 50 5G is also one of the only few devices in its price range with a 6500mAh battery. They didn’t cheap out on the power at all. A 45W fast charging kit allows backup. The last Spark 40 5G only had a 6000mAh battery and 18W charging. So the upgrade is pretty big.

We can’t say the same thing about its chipset, though. The Spark 50 5G seems to reuse the Dimensity 6400 5G+ SoC. This platform has a 2.5 GHz clock speed and eight cores. The top RAM on the version we saw at launch is only 6GB with 128GB of storage.

The default OS on the Spark 50 5G is actually the new Android 16 HiOS 16. There’s a fingerprint reader on the side, of course. It does have a 3.5mm headphone port and dual-band WiFi. The newcomer’s base price is ~$179 (~PKR 50,000) for the 4/128GB trim. A 6/128GB Spark 50 5G trim was also put on retail. The price is ~$200 (~PKR 56,000).
