Xiaomi Redmi 17C 5G Reaches Another Asian Market, Could Arrive in Pakistan Soon

A retail listing from a European store went viral back in August. It exposed the Xiaomi Redmi 17C 5G with all its specs. The phone got unveiled in Singapore a few days later. Now this handset has gone official in another Asian market. We even expect the Redmi 17C to arrive in Pakistan down the road.

The phone has launched in India, and as the name implies, this is a 5G version. Not exactly sure whether the Pakistani market will receive the 4G or 5G trim, but the Redmi 17C should be coming to our region soon enough. So you should at least get familiar with the device.

The phone is pretty basic, of course. The chipset is the only exception on the Xiaomi new Redmi model. They installed a Dimensity 6300 SoC on the newcomer. This small chip has roughly the same performance as the Helio G100, though it does unlock 5G connectivity on any device.

They only gave the Redmi 17C 5G 4GB of base physical RAM. The storage is capped at 128GB. That’s a bottleneck for the Dimensity 6300 SoC, unless you pay extra to get the 6GB upgrade. This will also give you better multitasking on the device and probably clean up some of the lag on Hyper OS 3.

Yes, the Redmi 17C 5G ended up with Android 16 Hyper OS 3. This is an old entry-level phone, so that was expected. There’s also a 6000mAh battery here, rated for 1000 cycles. This newcomer has a decent 33W charging backup, and the charger comes in the box.

This newcomer is built around a 6.9” IPS LCD, by the way. Again, it’s pretty bare-bones. There’s only HD+ 720p resolution. It will use a 120Hz refresh rate, and it will probably be bright enough for outdoors. There’s a notch on this screen, not a punch hole.

The front cutout has an 8MP selfie camera. The rear main camera is obviously better, with a 50MP sensor at f/1.8 on the Redmi 17C. A side fingerprint reader will add privacy, and you also get 5GHz WiFi. The base price is ~$218 (~PKR 60,000) for the 4/128GB trim. And the cost goes up to ~$240 (~PKR 66,000) for the 6/128GB option.
