Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 & Flip 7 FE Go Official, Powered by One UI 8 and Exynos Chips

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 isn’t the only clamshell device that took the stage this year. There’s a new Galaxy Z Fold 7 FE variant in town, which is a much affordable option. They each have One UI 8 (Android 16) and a 6-month free Gemini AI Pro subscription to get you started. Let’s dig a little deeper into their specs to see what else these phones offer.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

The biggest update for the Flip device is a 4.1” corner-to-corner outer AMOLED display with more pixels to count at 1048 x 948px and a faster refresh rate equivalent to the inner screen at 120Hz. We see the same durability that we previously found with the Flip 6, which had a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the outer panel and an IP48 rating.

A wider stack of third and first-party apps can now be used with this cover screen. That also includes Gemini Live support and Now Bar. That cover screen is definitely more useful now than it was before. We’re afraid the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra has some tough competition ahead.

Its insider folding screen has been upgraded to 6.9 inches. It’s also a bit wider at 68.6mm, which should feel just as ergonomic as the Galaxy S25+. There’s a 2X Dynamic AMOLED panel on this phone, which gets plenty bright at 2600 nits, and it carries an LTPO 1-120Hz refresh rate. When folded, it has a 13.5mm thickness, and unfolded, it only measures 6.5mm.

On the inside, just as we suspected, the phone is running an Exynos 2500 chip this time, with no Snapdragon alternative. There’s a 4300mAh battery here vs. the 4000mAh last year. But the wired and wireless charging remain the same at 25W and 15W inputs.

There are no upgrades on the camera front, at least, not on paper. They are the same 50MP main OIS and 12MP ultrawide rear-pointing lenses with a 10MP selfie snapper on the front. 10-bit HDR support does spice up the videos, though, and the bigger flex screen means you can now take proper selfies with the rear camera.

Just like the Fold 7, this phone has WiFi 7 on board, a side fingerprint reader, 7-year OS support, and a 6-month free Gemini AI Pro subscription as well. Price-wise, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 starts at $1100 (~PKR 313,000) for the 12/256GB option, which gets even more expensive at $1220 (~PKR 347,000) for its 12/512GB memory trim.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

This newcomer is just a remake of last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6. The only change they made to this phone is the Exynos 2400 chip, instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Still, this is a far cheaper device than the Z Flip 7. The FE variant drops the cost by $200, which is perfectly acceptable for such a high-end phone.

The Z Flip 7 FE has a 3.4” cover AMOLED 2x with HD+ resolution with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The internal display seems to be a 6.7” 120Hz panel, which should give you a 1080p display quality, HDR10+ support, and 2600 nits brightness. A Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the screen here.

It has the Armor Aluminum Frame, which is rated IP48 for minimal dust and water safety. That Exynos 2400 chip may be one year old, but it’s optimized to run Android 16/One UI 8 on the Flip 7 FE. What powers this device is a 4000mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. There’s a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide shooter on the back, and a 10MP selfie shooter on the front.

The Flip 7 FE has no other colors except black and white. The starter price for this phone is $800 (~PKR 227,000), but it’s for a measly 8/128GB storage option. A preferable choice for most would be the 8/256GB trim, which, by the way, costs $960 (~PKR 273,000). Both phones are up for pre-order in the US, Europe, and the UK, but the open sales won’t begin until July 25th.
