Samsung Galaxy S26 Series May Boost RAM Speeds with New LPDDR5X Modules

LPDDR5X is the fastest RAM to appear on mobiles, other than the modified Ultra+ version that just showed up on the OnePlus 15 (16GB). It seems the Galaxy S26 series will be using the former. Vanilla LPDDR5X has transfer speeds of roughly 10.7Gbps on these new Galaxy S models.

Now, LPDDR5X isn’t something new. We saw it before on the Galaxy S25 series. But those models were stuck at up to 8.5Gbps transfer rates on their maxed-out 12GB variants. A new leak from Ice Universe says S26 models will carry the same LPDDR5X memory standard, though the bandwidth is widened to 10.7Gbps.

By the way, the leaker specified 12GB LPDDR5X options here. This encompasses the whole series. Samsung stopped pushing out 8GB Galaxy S variants last year. We can now look forward to the whole lineup with at least 12GB RAM. That means all the S26 devices will have LPDDR5X memory.

Nothing’s guaranteed at this point, obviously. But Ice Universe is usually right about such details. One more thing that you should know: Samsung’s memory chips are usually bought from Micron. That could repeat this year as well for the Samsung new flagship models.

If you were hoping to see Samsung’s own 16GB LPDDR6 memory on the Galaxy S26 series, it could just be a pipedream for now. Their self-made LPDDR6 (10.7Gbps) memory module has more I/O channels and almost 21% better efficiency than Micron’s.

Sadly, the LPDDR6 memory wouldn’t show up until later in 2026 at CES, which means it will miss the window for the Galaxy S26 series launch. By chance, if Samsung did decide to use LPDDR6 on its next flagship series, it would be found on the S26 Ultra 16GB model.

Now, those 16GB + 1TB Ultra handsets are usually exclusive to a few markets. That decreases the likelihood that we’ll see LPDDR6 memory on the Galaxy S26 series. We now wait for more sources to verify this news. Keep an eye out for more stories in the meantime at WhatMobile News.
