The rumor mill surrounding the upcoming Galaxy Note 20 series has revealed that it will feature two editions: Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. The leaks also gave us a sneak preview of what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra version, but the credible phone leaker Ice Universe has now shared live hands-on Note 20 Ultra shots, accompanied by its alleged specifications.
The live images of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra show an Infinity-O screen, punched in the center (similar to its predecessor Note 10+) and wrapped around the edges, pushing the buttons and side bezels back. The curve is much more pronounced with this iteration, and the bezels have been shaved off by 0.29mm.
The display is an LPTO OLED panel (as multiple reports have already predicted) that produces a QHD+ resolution at a 120Hz refresh rate. Unlike the S20 series, however, the extreme refresh rate does operate at QHD+. The Note 20 Ultra’s display is shaping up to be more power-efficient (because LTPO allows for dynamic refresh rate switching) and feature-rich, this is exactly what we've been expecting at a premium level Samsung price point.
The build is more compact than ever: its frame is 0.3mm thinner, and the punch-hole has shrunken by 1mm. The source also points to new S-pen and camera features but doesn’t specify the improvements.
Last year, the Note 10 stylus debuted with ‘Air Gestures’, so you can expect a similar innovation (or gimmick depending on how you look at it). The camera upgrades will likely address the autofocusing bugs that plague the S20 Ultra — perhaps with the addition of laser autofocus. As for performance, Ice Universe claims that the Note 20 Ultra features the Snapdragon 865+ (which speculation suggests won’t be introduced this year).
At the moment, these specifications remain unverified, but we should see them pan out in August where the Galaxy Note 20 is supposed to launch alongside the Fold 2 and Watch 2.
