Samsung Galaxy A72 5G Quad Camera Details Revealed; The Fifth Telephoto Camera Likely Dropped

Samsung's Galaxy A-series is getting refreshed. The last generation of this lineup is a year old now. Voice has leaked the press renders for the Samsung Galaxy A52. And early leaks surrounding the upcoming Galaxy A72 have started pouring in too.

The Elec, a Korean publication, reported the Samsung Galaxy A72 camera specifications in September. Based on that, the upcoming phone has five cameras. The Twitter user, @chunvn8888, a prolific phone leaker from Vietnam, made a contradicting tweet saying that the A72 instead has a quad-camera cluster.

The additional camera in question was supposedly an 8MP telephoto lens with a 3x optical zooming range. The A71 last year had a standard, predictable camera setup — one primary camera, one for wide-angle shots, and two extra sensors for padding the camera count.

Judging by the alleged new array, Samsung mobile is likely sticking to the original configuration on Galaxy A72 that features a 64MP primary camera and a 12MP wide-angle unit. So as of yet, telephoto cameras remain exclusive to the flagship domain.

All details beyond the Samsung A72 camera specs are pure speculation. sources also predict the possibility of Exynos 1080 under the hood. It’s a strong contender because it was only recently announced. It’s Samsung’s first 5nm fabrication process and has 5G support (something which Samsung has promised to offer in all Galaxy A phones going forward.)

The publication also speculates 25W fast charging for the Samsung Galaxy A72. And of course, Samsung’s newest Android11-based OneUI 3.0 will power the hardware.
