Samsung Galaxy A31 Now Available for Pre-order in Korea, While Pakistan still awaits the Next Big Mid-Ranger

The Samsung Galaxy A31 had already been announced last month, and it is now available for pre-order in multiple markets, including the Gulf, Africa, and now Korea but no sign of it yet in Pakistan. In Korea, it starts at a Samsung price tag of KRW 374,000 or about 49,000 PKR and falls at the far right end of the mid-range bracket.

Let’s start with the Samsung A31 design first. Its 6.4-inch Infinity-U SuperAMOLED panel is surrounded with marginally slim bezels and a prominent chin. The display can produce an FHD+ resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio that fills it.

The rear shell of the Galaxy A31 has a subtle fractal-like geometric pattern and a shiny finish that comes in Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Blue, and Prism Crush White. Note that only the Red edition is available in Korea right now.

The rear-facing panel houses a quad-camera inside the rectangular bump of A31. The four lenses are laid-out in an L-shape. The main camera has a 48MP sensor behind it (and an f/2.0 aperture) that works with an 8MP 123-degree ultrawide lens, a 5MP depth shooter, and a 5MP macro sensor.

It’s a reasonably robust setup, so no surprises there. The selfie camera on Galaxy A31 by Samsung is impressive with its 20MP front-facing shooter. The ensemble has autofocus support, and it allows for up to 8x digital zoom.

Inside the phone, a MediaTek Helio P65 processor runs things. It features an octa-core CPU clocked at 2GHz and is hooked up to a 5,000 mAh battery that can be powered up with up to 15W fast charging. The hardware, of course, is backed by the latest Android-10-powered One UI 2.0.

Samsung prices the handset in the mid-range category by opting for 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of native storage (which can be expanded up to 512GB with a microSD card) for the Galaxy A31. You can get up to 22 hours of continuous screen-time out of this battery before it needs a charge. For biometric authentication, the Samsung Galaxy A31 uses an on-screen fingerprint scanner.

The sales in Korea start from May 6 but there’s no word on its release in Pakistan yet, maybe because of the ongoing lockdowns due to the corona pandemic. We'll update you once we hear anything about its availability in Pakistan.
