Samsung Galaxy A27 Global Rollout Begins with Punch Hole AMOLED & SD 6 Gen 3 Chip

This phone should’ve launched in March, but they delayed it for several months, finally announcing it on June 25th, yesterday. Samsung Samsung Galaxy A27 is not much of an upgrade over the older A26. But the design has definitely come a long way in just one year and three months, counting the delay. This is everything you need to know.

The wait was absolutely worth it. Samsung caved in this year and finally gave the A27 what fans have been asking for. The ugly notch is gone. The screen now has a very subtle punch hole camera that is much easier on the eyes and a lot easier to get used to.

The bottom chin has also been made somewhat uniform, and you’ll also find slimmer bezels around the AMOLED. This is still a 6.7” FHD+ display, though. The Galaxy A27 has actually inherited the same 120Hz refresh rate. The chipset managing this AMOLED is a different story.

One big upgrade that tops the list for Samsung latest A mobile is the 10-20% performance lift it’s getting by switching the chipset to Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. That’s a much better, stable 4nm platform over the older Exynos 1380 (5nm) used on the Galaxy A26. The new Snapdragon chip, by the way, is being passed down by the Galaxy A36.

They’ve only changed the selfie camera to 12MP. Other than that, the optics are still 50MP main OIS, next to a 5MP ultrawide. The third and least used camera is the 2MP macro. We do admire the new look of this phone, but it wasn’t cost-free.

The Galaxy A27, for some reason, has a worse IP rating. It steps down from last year’s IP67 to an IP64 rating now. It’s still splashproof. But the phone is too expensive to slack on the safety front. So we have to dock a few points for not having sufficient durability.

This newcomer is still wired to a 5000mAh battery, which will recharge over a 25W PD input. Six years of OS updates are promised for the Galaxy A27. The base version of the phone has 6/128GB of memory, and the price for this Galaxy A27 model is $350 (~PKR 97,000). You’ll pay even more as you upgrade to 8/128GB and 8/256GB.
