The long-rumored Nova 9 series from Huawei has been officially teased. Featuring the Huawei Nova 9 Pro and Nova 9, the next-gen lineup is slated for release on Sept. 23. And as we near this upcoming launch, leaked photos give us a peek into the phone’s design and specs.

Hands-on photos published by the Chinese source ITHome show the Nova 9 Pro with a dual front camera system housed inside a pill-shaped notch. Its screen slopes around the edges and houses an in-screen fingerprint scanner. We’re looking at a 6.72” OLED panel that delivers an ultra-crisp 4K resolution and a silky smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The build is only 7.97 mm deep and weighs around 186 grams. It’s offered in black, olive green, purple, and blue shades. The curved display extends to Huawei Nova 9 that has a hole punched through its center.

A cluster of lenses is mounted on the shell inside an egg-shaped island. The Nova 9 Pro features a 50MP wide lens, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, two low-res sensors, and a 32MP front camera.

HarmonyOS 2.0 powers the Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G is at the heart of the new Huawei mobile phones 2021. Since Huawei can’t acquire 5G chips from Qualcomm, both Nova 9 editions will be limited to 4G connectivity. You get 8GB of memory and 128GB/256GB internal storage.

The Chinese communications authority 3C has also signed off on the Nova 9 series. As per their database, the two phones feature 4000 mAh batteries, capable of flash charging over a whopping 100W.
