The progress is slow, but the spec sheet is starting to form. Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra both had their battery sizes leaked today. The details came from the same source that leaked their camera specs just a few days ago. These are the batteries we’ll see on the Pro and Ultra.
We can’t say the same for the Pro, because it will be new to the family, but the Ultra is getting a decent capacity bump. They plan to put a 5700 mAh cell on the Galaxy S27 Ultra next year, and that’s coming from a 5000 mAh battery they used this year on the S26 Ultra.
It’s a 13% boost in the typical capacity. Of course, it goes without saying that this is not the rated true capacity figure. 5700 mAh is just for advertising. The leak says its rated battery size is 5534 mAh, which is still a huge upgrade. This could potentially add more than a few hours of screen-on time to the S27 Ultra.
The Samsung latest S model will get a 5200mAh battery right off the bat as the first Pro version in the family. That’s also a typical capacity figure. The true rating is 5,087 mAh, which is still more than the S26 Ultra’s power pack from last year.
Samsung is not a risk taker when it comes to batteries. The whole Galaxy Note 7 debacle threw the company into PTSD. They became cautious, so Samsung rarely gave their devices battery upgrades down the line. We’ve been seeing the 5000 mAh figure on Galaxy Ultras for years.
One would assume that the huge batteries on the S27 Pro and Ultra were only made possible with a Si/C anode Li-ion tech. They did use the same tech on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which clearly means they are comfortable giving it a shot on the S27 Ultra and Pro. We’ll know soon if this prediction has weight.
