Galaxy S26 Confirmed to Use 2nm Exynos 2600 as Prototype Production Begins

We are already hearing whispers on the internet that the prototype production for the Exynos 2600 chip has officially begun. This is going to be the world’s first 2nm mobile SoC, and it’s bound to appear inside the Galaxy S26 lineup. We have found key details about the chip’s pre-production trial, so let’s get into it.

The prototype production actually began last month at the Samsung Foundry, and it would seem the initial tests recorded 30% production efficiency. These figures still need improving, but the increased usage of wafers is a promising sign. According to a report by ShiftDelete, Samsung Foundry and System LS1 are working together to carry out the tests.

Both companies project at least a 50% increase in manufacturing efficiency soon, but the process has been pretty slow. As always, the chip’s production quality is the first priority for Samsung, but it needs to be balanced with swift production to get the chip out there. Of course, the company doesn’t want to repeat the disaster that was last year’s Exynos 2500.

The trials also include risk production for the Exynos 2600 to flush out any other problems with the chip. This is the stage when Samsung does extensive testing for its SoCs to see their full potential and possible safety concerns during production.

Completing the risk production phase will inevitably push the device toward mass production by the end of this year if all goes according to plan. Another hurdle it might possibly face is the tests to see how well it works inside Samsung's latest flagship models

If Samsung achieves a desirable outcome during its trials, the Exynos 2600 will be launched as the system-on-chip inside the Galaxy S26 series. For obvious reasons, the company wouldn’t risk going all in with Exynos, so they still might keep the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip around for a few global markets.

The complications during the production of Exynos 2600 could lead to a delay, possibly pushing the S26 series launch to February next year. But it’s well worth the wait. We can’t wait to see the world’s first 2nm mobile processor enter the smartphone market. For more leaks and insights into the Galaxy S26 series, keep watching the news at WhatMobile.com.pk.
