Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus Camera Stats Leaked; Here's What You can Expect

There is growing concern among tech gurus online that the Korean giant might not dedicate as much attention to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ as they did with this year's S23 series, and rightly so. The hardware mounted inside the S23 phones already stands at the bleeding edge of technology; case in point 200MP HP2 sensor on S23 Ultra.

The phone's imaging prowess is simply unparalleled, thanks to its remarkable virtual pixel size, that's the smallest of its kind. With a staggering 200 million minuscule pixels density at its disposal, the S23 Ultra can produce image quality that far surpasses what was ever thought possible.

The phone's camera setup leaves little room for improvement. The lighter sibs, S23+ and S23, possess likely imaging capabilities, though, with smaller 50MP sensors. 1.0µm pixel size, Dual Pixel PDAF, and OIS are the qualities to set them apart from the slew of Pro flagships in the market.

The camera sensors on lighter siblings do impress; however, they are not something manufactured anew. 50MP primary, 10MP 3X telephoto, and 12MP ultrawide snappers are the sensors that Samsung has been dragging on for almost two generations now. Tip-star Revegnus @Tech_reve on Twitter poised yesterday that S23 Ultra's HP2 200MP sensor will pass down to its replacer in 2024. The lighter S24 siblings will follow suit and bear the old 50MP GN3 sensors for the third time.

It is fair to credit his suspicions, as we have indeed witnessed a lack of significant innovation from Samsung when transitioning from the S22 to the S23 series. The antecedent lineups bear striking similarities in design and camera specifications, with insufficient changes to merit the label of a substantial upgrade. This trend may very well continue with the upcoming series.
