Poco recently announced the official release date for its latest offerings, M5 and Poco M5s. The phones will unravel at an online event on September 5th, 8 PM Beijing time. Earlier this week, the brand clued in an M-series phone sporting Helio G99 SoC via Twitter. Its name, "Poco M5," and its debut timeline are now public.

M-family phones by Poco always shine for their over-the-top specs at a pocket-friendly cost. It's not any different this time; the Poco M5's confirmed Helio G99 processor already makes it a strong competitor for affordable retail.

The details for M5s are scarce except for its rumored color coatings of gray, blue, and white. Meanwhile, the rumor mill reports the following feature set on M5 from the same duo.

The M5 phone will pair the Helio G99 chip (a 12nm SoC clocked at 2.2GHz frequency and added Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for graphics) with three storage ram configurations. You will get 4GB RAM with 64GB and 128GB storage. For an additional cost, you can get a 6GB memory option paired with 128Gb capacity.

The new 5G Xiaomi mobile reportedly supports a 33W fast charging option — Type-C plug to a 5000 mAh long-lasting battery backup. Like its previous iterations, the M5 is going with a side-facing fingerprint scanner mounted on the power key. M5's operating system is undoubtedly an MIUI 13-skinned version of Android 12.

The display size on M5 is probably the same as the last-gen M4. A typical 6.58-inch FHD+ (1080x2400px resolution and ~400PPI) screen, IPS LCD panel. The details about its camera setup, selfie sensor, screen refresh rate & protection, etc., are still a mystery.

With the Poco M5 Series launch only days away, the whole feature set will unravel sooner than you think. The market is expecting this device to start at ~PKR 41,800.
