The Poco F9 series is about to debut, surely within a month or so. They have the Xiaomi Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra certified by regulators over in Indonesia and Malaysia, so these phones are definitely real. They are not original creations, though. It would seem they are just rebranded Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max.
A leaker looked into the source code of one of the latest Hyper OS builds and found some clues about the batteries on these Poco F9 models. Kacper Skrzypek said on X that the Poco F9 Ultra will put an 8,050mAh cell onboard, though the basic Pro version is stuck with a way smaller battery.
The same source has revealed that the Poco F9 Pro is about to get a 6,330mAh battery. Now these are not exactly the cell sizes of Redmi K100 Pro (8,580mAh) or K100 Pro Max (9,070mAh), but that’s what happens when the Chinese phones land in the global market.
The reason for the whole rebranding spiel is so that the China-exclusive Redmi K series reaches the global market under a different brand name. Global markets have stricter regulations over battery sizes, so the Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra shave a few hundred mAh. But don’t worry, these Poco handsets still keep the 100W charging from the Redmi phones. The leak didn’t share what else we can expect from the F9 Pro or F9 Ultra. But we’ve been keeping track of the gossip and reports, and this is probably how the spec sheet would look.
Poco F9 Ultra is at the top of the food chain, and thus it’s getting a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This newcomer will probably show up with a 6.9” screen (AMOLED). It should be 1.5K, and the refresh rate might hit 185 Hz. 32MP selfie camera and a 200MP main shooter are also possible on the Ultra.
Poco F9 Pro will be smaller, by the way. They’ll use a 6.59” AMOLED on it, but this still has 1.5K resolution and that high 185Hz refresh rate. We still need more sources to verify, but the F9 Pro might also end up with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Keep watching the news for more updates.
