Xiaomi's new folding smartphone has already made headlines following a video leak by Evan Blass (Evleaks), a well-known tech insider. Today another minute-long video was shared by Xiaomi's President Mr. Lin Bin himself, giving the whole thing greater credibility.

For now, It's just a prototype with a flexible display that can be folded in three parts. With the display completely open and unfolded, the device bears similar dimensions of a small tablet. When the two shorter side areas of the panel are folded, it takes a smartphone form factor.

After admitting that the company has faced a series of challenges and technical problems to make this prototype including the adaptation of the MIUI interface to use with a folding device, Lin Bin added that it could be the World's first smartphone equipped with a similar form factor. However, he does not yet provide indications on whether and when will be the mass production started.
